AMA rundown

Nov 27th, 2013

Taylor Swift swept the floor with her competition at the 2013 American Music Awards (AMAs) scoring four pointy trophies including artist of the year – for the third time running (do you mind…).

Justin Timberlake (swoon) scored five nominations - one for each year of music scene absence for his 20/20 Experience production.

Rihanna picked up the first ever Icon accolade - presented to her by her ever so proud mum.

As per usual, the awards were not really about, well - the awards. The big talking points of the evening? Miley Cyrus performing in front of a big projected cat (which was kind of creepy) and Lady GaGa arriving on a mechanical horse (limo’s are so last year...). Katy Perry performed as a Geisha and GaGa channeled Marilyn.

For me, the highlight of the night was Jennifer Lopez who performed a tribute to Cuban salsa performer Celia Cruz - with a sizzling Spanish number seeing her through 3 outfit changes and reminding us she’s not just famous for her pipes – that lady can move!
