Paula Abdul to Keep On Dancing...With 'So You Think You Can Dance'?
She may be out of a gig on American Idol, but Paula Abdul sure has a rumored great new job. Seems as though the choreographer/super dancer is going back to her roots and heading to a show that she should have been on in the first place: judging on So You Think You Can Dance.
ABC entertainment president Stephen McPherson on Saturday said he would like to have the former "American Idol" judge on the network's top-rated reality hit "Dancing With the Stars."
"Absolutely," he responded when asked if he was interested in the prospect of Abdul joining Dancing.
"We would love to have her on 'Dancing' whether its as a contestant, or a participant, judge, etc.," McPherson said during ABCs portion of the summer TV Critics Assn. Press tour. "I was a little stunned by the decision. I think she's a huge talent. There's a sensitivity and emotion in her that balances out 'Idol,' and we'd love to get a piece of that.
Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance" executive producer and judge Nigel Lythgoe has also extended an offer to Abdul, but only as a guest judge. (source)
Sad we won't be having any more of those planned Simon Cowell/Paula Abdul awkward fighting moments on TV, but at least her career will make sense now. When you're a choreographer giving advice and critiques to dancers instead of singers...we say good choice.
