George Lopez Not Welcoming Conan O'Brien With Open Arms?
Things aren't going so swimmingly as we thought when it comes to George Lopez and Conan O'Brien sharing TBS late night together. As first reported, Lopez was said to be ecstatic about moving to the midnight spot and letting O'Brien open at 11 p.m. It seems all is not well in the mind of Lopez.
Sources tell Page Six that the Lopez reaction was carefully staged by TBS. The source claims network execs warned Lopez he'd be axed if he didn't welcome on Conan.
"George was initially opposed to the idea of moving his time slot to make room for Conan on TBS," said a source. "He was told that if he wasn't supportive, his show would not be renewed. The Lopez camp is even more disheartened by the fact that Conan's contract states that if Lopez's show is canceled, then Conan will be able to develop a show for the midnight hour, as well . . . it's in Conan's best interest for Lopez's show to fail."
